Halberstadt - mal wieder

Lange ist es her, dass ich dieses Motiv von einem Altartuches aus Halberstatdt (14. Jhd) zum ersten Mal gewebt habe. 2001 war ich schon auf den Weg in Richtung eigene Musterentwicklung und 'Rekonstruktionen von historischen Borten', als mir Fabian Peise nach einem interessanten Mailaustausch diese Anleitung zur Verfügung gestellt hatte.

Seitdem kenne und schätze ich dieses Muster.
2014 hatte ich die Gelegenheit, mir die Borte persönlich in Halberstadt anzusehen und festzustellen, dass das Muster wirklich dem Original entspricht (das ist nicht immer selbstverständlich) und auf meiner 'To do Liste' stand das Nachweben mit den passenden Farben.

Das habe ich jetzt gemacht.

Vergleich Original und Rekonstruktionen

Einen Teil der Borte habe ich auch broschiert, damit man erahnen kann, wie prachtvoll das Band damals gewesen ist. Es ist eins der historischen Bänder, wo der Broschierfaden nur mit einem Faden gehalten wird (unter einem Faden broschiert wird).

Der Aufzug besteht aus 28 Muster- und an jeder Seite 2 Randbrettchen (insgesamt also 32 Brettchen). Ich habe mit NM11 Seide gearbeitet und das Band ist 2,5 cm breit. Damit habe ich etwa die Originalbreite erreicht.

I always loved this pattern as it is rather easy to weave (if you don't do the brocading). 
In 2014 I had the chance to take a look at the Altarcloth in Halberstad. And yes the pattern is correct (this isn't as natural as it sounds) but up to now I haven't had the chance to weave the pattern in the correct colours.

I've woven a part of the band without brocading and the other part with brocading that you can get an idea how it looked when it was new. I did the brocading only below one thread per tablet.

The band is threaded with 28 pattern tablet and alltogether 4 tablets at the border. I used NM11 silk and the band is approx. 2,5 cm with. It is within the dimensions I guess for the original band.
