As Claudia Wollny published her first book 'Die fabelhafte Welt der brettchengewebten Stola und Manipel zu Arlon' she did an outstanding job in reconstructing the pattern and so my expectation for the book she published not yet a year later were on a high level.

The first book did the reconstruction of the Arlon band and was only partly usable for normal weaving (who wants to weave a 3/1 broken twill with more than 100 tablets?) but it had been so beautiful and inspiring that it is worth every cent.

With 'a Lily Grove' Claudia Wollny published a book for the 'normal' weaver and satisfies the need to have many patters to weave.
The book contains more than 164 patterns (without counting the border patterns) but they fit in the design of the Arlon band with a wide varity. Starting with 7 pattern tablets (but only for 1 motiv) and by using 15 tablets you have a decent number of motivs. If you thread with 35 tablets you have a wide varity of patterns and depending on the motivs there are only few differences to the original band.

The writing of the pattern is inspired by a German page for tablet weaving 'Flinkhand' and forward and backward weaving is grey/white, my preferred method.

You can find in the last part of the book a instruction for tablet weaving and an explanation how 3/1 broken twill works. Beginners in tablet weaving who are able to understand complex instructions will not only be able to weave the pattern but also be able to understand the technique.

Quite a lot beautiful pictures of tablet woven bands complete this book.

With 19,90 Euro it's a 'cheap' book. For this few monye I rarely got so much material.

For me it's one of the best books of the last years.

Herzliche Grüße vom "kleinen Licht, was wachsen will"
